Many things that influence our actions do so without our knowledge or consent. Sit up and take notice.

The Conscious

THE CONCEPT

Somewhere at the point where psychology, philosophy, and communication theory meet, there is a scary fact:  our thoughts aren’t always our own.  We are inundated with a constant barrage of information and misinformation.  Overwhelmed, we cling to the familiar and put our faith in ideas without thoroughly examining them.  We use these unvetted ideas to make decisions… unconsciously.  Collectively.

This blog represents my attempt to curate my own beliefs and values.  Much of it is political.  Some of it is silly.  I fully expect to be held accountable when the ideas I post don’t seem to match my philosophy, and I want to be challenged by you when your opinion differs.

The title “Collectively Unconscious” has applied to a number of websites over the last decade, all maintained by me.  The purpose has always remained the same.

THE AUTHOR

I’m a dad to one boy and two cats in Duluth, Minnesota.  I make a living helping a nonprofit organization build leaders and change lives, and lend my knowledge to other nonprofits, political causes, and businesses to help them communicate more effectively and work more efficiently.

I believe that we have a responsibility to help one another and make the world better for the next generation.  I believe that no law should limit our freedoms, or promote a single ideology over another, in regards to race, culture, religion, gender, ability, or sexual orientation.
